EDIT: Without spoiling, holy fuck Worlds is bonkers right now.

From today till October 29, the most important League of Legends tournament of the year, the World Championship (or "Worlds"), will be running. This year it is held around various places in the United States after visiting Korea and Europe in 2014 and 2015. 16 teams from 5 major regions and wildcard regions compete to lift the Summoner's Cup.

Teams qualify for Worlds in the major regions by winning the summer split of their region or having the most championship points (by advancing in the playoffs of both splits of the year) or winning the gauntlet tournament with the 4 teams that got the most championship points aside from the team that already qualified.
The korean teams ROX Tigers and SKTT1 aswell as the chinese team EDG are favourites going into the tournament. The american team TSM is arguably a Top 4 team coming into the World Championship and by that the western teams with the highest expectations.
All American teams (Cloud9, CLG, TSM), ROX Tigers and SKT from Korea, EDG from China, AHQ and Flash Wolves from Taiwan and H2K from Europe qualified for this year's Worlds aswell as last year's.
It has become tradition that most teams bootcamp in Korea the month leading up to the World Championship. The progress of the players on the korean ladder is closely followed by fans.
You can participate in Worlds Pick'em where you predict the outcome of the group stage and later knockout matches. Last year 1 participant out of a few million guessed everything right.
